3.1 SSF Atlas progression guide by Karvarousku

DISCLAIMER

As of writing this, there is no information on what shaped maps will upgrade to, so this guide will ignore them. So it's a WORST CASE scenario. 
I will update this guide/pastebin should we get information for shaped 3-to-1 recipes.

List of "hard to obtain" -maps that cannot be obtained from 3-to-1 recipe (the map you have to farm is inside brackets):

T2:

Assuming the worst: no SHAPED 3-to-1 recipes, you don't get a single map from a Zana mission or buy from her, the atlas progression for SSF looks something like this:

TIER 1

Unlock all t1 maps, farm:
BEACH -> ARID Lake (50% when +1 map drops)
LOOKOUT -> PEN (50%)

TIER 2

Part 1;
Unlock Flooded Mine + Alleways, farm:
FLOODED MINE -> CELLS + LEYLINE (1st map 67%, second 33%)
ALLEWAYS -> Port (33%)

Part 2;
Unlock Marshes, farm:
MARSHES -> BURIAL CHAMBERS (50%)
	- Note you can unlock Marshes (and t3 Springs) earlier, but it will slow your progress on the maps on part 1.
		- However, it can potentially increase your speed for other tiers.

TIER 3

Unlock Springs first. I recommend keeping it as your only t3 untill you get your hands on Chateau and unlock it, but it is not a must.
	- The reason you want Chateau first is because it will speed up the process of getting Phantasmagoria from Toxic Sewers.
	
If you chose to follow my advice, unlock rest of the t3 maps after you unlock Chateau. If not, you should have all t3s unlocked already.

TIER 4

Part 1;
Unlock Chateau first. You probably already have, but just in case. 
	- Find and unlock (T5) Toxic Sewers. Run it every time you find one until you find Phantasmagoria.

Part 2;
Unlock rest of the T4s

TIER 5

Part 1;
You probably have unlocked Toxic Sewer already. Farm it:
TOXIC SEWER -> PHANTASMAGORIA (50%)
	- You may unlock Conservatory as it has 100% chance to get Academy whenever a +1 drops, and it upgrades to it. 
		- Haunted Mansion is 50% on +1 drop, doesn't upgrade to it, so not recommended.
		
Part 2;
Depending what you chose on part 1, unlock Conservatory and/or Haunted mansion and farm them
CONSERVATORY -> ACADEMY (100%, upgrades)
HAUNTED MANSION -> ACADEMY (50%, doesn't upgrade)

Part 3;
After unlocking Academy, unlock rest of the t5s.

TIER 6

Part 1;
You have Academy unlocked. Farm it:
ACADEMY -> GARDENS (50%)
	
Part 2;
You've probably noticed you have a decision to make: Do I want to complete this tier faster, or do I want to slow my current tier progression in order to potentially speed up the next tier?
	- We keep asking this question every tier. 
	
In this tier, you can unlock Underground Sea, as it has 50% chance to get Underground River from a +1, and it upgrades to it. And we need Underground Sea for Mineral Pools in tier 8.
After you have Gardens, unlock rest of the t6s.

TIER 7

Part 1;
Unlock Underground River.
UNDERGROUND RIVER -> MINERAL POOLS (50%)

Part 2;
You may unlock Residence, it upgrades and has 100% chance on +1 to go to Courtyard, which is our first t8 map.
After finding Mineral Pools you may unlock rest of the t7.

TIER 8

Part 1;
Unlock Courtyard.
COURTYARD -> TEMPLE (50%)

Part 2;
This tier is a bit different, you actually have 2 options. You may unlock both, or just one. I personally advice on unlocking only one if you decide to unlock any.
	- Those maps are Shore and Tropical Island. 
	- Shore upgrades / has 100% on +1 to give you Tower, for Tropical the same numbers go for Estuary
		- Both Estuary and Tower are maps that have 50% chance to drop Shipyard as +1, but they upgrade to Precinct (Tower) and Arachnid Tomb (Estuary)
	
After obtaining Temple, you can unlock rest of the t8s. Pay in mind you should unlock Tower and Estuary before finishing unlocking rest of the t8s if you can (so they can drop as +1)

TIER 9

Part 1;
If you already haven't, unlock either Estuary or Tower, or both.
ESTUARY -> SHIPYARD (50%)
TOWER -> SHIPYARD (50%)

Part 2;
Again, we have one map we can unlock while farming the Shipyard, and in this tier I highly recommend doing so, because:
	- If you have both Tower and Estuary unlocked, 2/3 (in other tiers it would be 1/2) of the t9 maps that drop have potential to yield Shipyard as a +1 drop.
	- This means a bit more Atlas bonus%, and you can potentially find 3 Waste Pools (the map you may unlock) that could instantly trade up to a Bog.
	
Either way, after finding Shipyard, you may unlock rest of the t9s (again if you can, unlock Bog before doing rest of the t9s)

TIER 10

Unlock Bog.
BOG -> PRIMORDIAL POOL (50%)

TIER 11+

After obtaining Primordial Pool, there is no more "hard to obtain" -maps.
	- You may now farm however you wish, you can obtain rest of the maps from 3-to-1 recipes.
	
HOWEVER, you will drastically increase your progression in certain parts (for example if you want to get specific Shaper Orbs) by not mindlessly just unlocking a new map whenever you find one.
	- If you wish to push for one specific coner for whatever reason (eg. getting to Chimera to farm the Scourge claw), you should always unlock the highest tier in that coner, so it can drop in the other coners.
	
If you want to evenly progress in the coners, you should go one tier at a time and in example:

Farm t10s untill you obtain every t11. You might get some of the t11s from actual drops in the t10s, some from 3-to-1 recipes. 
After you have every single t11 (or are missing like 1 map from upgrade recipe for your last map etc), unlock them all. 
	- The order you should unlock them, if you want to evenly keep progressing, is: 
		- First the map you have the least, last the map you had the most. The reason for this is simple, you want to find those maps the most you don't have many already.
