The BBC Arabic Television news channel launched on 11 March 2008, 83 a Persian-language channel followed on 14 January 2009, 84 broadcasting from the Peel wing of Broadcasting House; both include news, analysis, interviews, sports and highly cultural programmes and are run by the BBC World Service and funded from a grant-in-aid from the British Foreign Office and not the television licence.
